College Clinic and Recruiting showcase

Elite Beach Volleyball is excited to be working with FIVE California college beach volleyball coaches! The Master's University, Corcordia, UC Davis, St. Mary's and Fresno City will all be coming to Elite Beach in May to run 2 clinics and a showcase tournament!

Coach Davis - The Master's University

Coach Davis whose accomplishments span the college, professional and Olympic ranks, Davis was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame in 2015. While a Bruin, she was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year (1991) and Player of the Year (1994), helping lead her team to a national title in her first season. The two-time, first-team indoor volleyball All-American went on to play indoor professionally in Greece before earning a spot on the USA Olympic Team on the beach.At the 2000 games in Sydney, Davis and her playing partner became the first African Americans to make the U.S. Olympic beach volleyball team (they placed fifth). She is currently the head coach beach volleyball at The Master's University in Santa Clarita.

Coach Griffith - Concordia University

Coach Griffith has served as the CUI head coach of the beach volleyball program since 2020. The program has enjoyed two of its most successful seasons under her leadership.  Concordia set a school record by racking up 22 victories during the 2022 season.  The storybook campaign concluded with a memorable trip to the AVCA Small College Championships in Florida, where the Eagles made the semifinals in their first appearance and finished in fourth place among the best schools in the country.  During her four years at UCLA, the Lady Bruins lost only four matches in four seasons, made two Final Four appearances, and won two National Championships

After her indoor career, Jenny played Professional Beach Volleyball on the WPVA tour and received “Rookie of the Year” honors in 1995.

Coach Harrer - St. Mary's University

Coach Harrer is one of the most experienced and successful beach volleyball players of all-time, with a career that spanned 18 seasons. She racked up 25 professional titles across the AVP, WPVA, and FIVB Tours, and won a host of awards including a WPVA Defensive Player of the Year award in 1990. She also owns 13 combined U.S. and World Championships.  Harrer has now led the Gaels for 3 seasons, helping the team to a third place finish at the WCC Tournament in 2024. She has led her program to 34 wins over the past two seasons, making her the third winningest coach in program history. She is on pace to break the program win record in the 2025 season. Over the past two years, Harrer has coached two first team All-WCC selections, four second team All-WCC selections, three WCC freshman team selections, and two WCC All-Academic honorees.

Coach Gathright - UC Davis

Coach Gathright is in her first season with the Ags hailing from Stevensville, Michigan where she most recently was owner and director of the Southwest Volleyball Club in Michigan where over 200 players participate in the indoor and beach program. She brings three decades of coaching experience. Coupled with achieving the highest honors as a collegiate athlete and Professional indoor/beach player. Lisa has 2 national championships and 4 final four appearances in her tenure at UCLA. Gathright has over 30 years of experience between the club, high school, and collegiate levels. She began her coaching career at Westside VBC in Santa Monica while at UCLA. She played for the Bruins from 1989-1992 as a starting middle blocker. During her college career, she helped her team to win back-to-back National Championships with four Final Four Appearances. 

Coach Montagna - Fresno Pacific University and Fresno City College

Coach Montagna is currently the head coach for indoor volleyball at Fresno Pacific University and is actively pursuing the chance to bring beach volleyball to FPU in the near future. She is also the Associate Head Coach of Beach Volleyball at Fresno City College.  She begins her 4th season with The Rams after serving as the Head Coach at Cabrillo College for Indoor and Beach Volleyball. During her time at Cabrillo, she had an overall indoor record of 66-17 (36-1 conference), three consecutive Conference Titles, a state appearance, and was named Coach of the Year in 2019.  On the beach, Cabrillo had an overall record of 34-2 and finished 3rd in state in 2022 (22-2). The Seahawks also finished with 3 of the top 16 pairs in the State Pairs Tournament. She earned Coach of the Year for the Coast Conference and was named a 30 Under 30 AVCA award recipient in 2022 and 2024.

While at Cabrillo she spent time with Santa Cruz Beach Volleyball Club and Main Beach Volleyball Club. She is a former standout player at Cabrillo College and then went onto play at University of Providence, Great Falls, Montana where she graduated with her BA in Business Administration. 

This awesome experience is open to any and all participants and is the perfect opportunity to get instruction and play in front of 5 amazing schools if you are interested in playing beach volleyball in college!

Location: Elite Beach Courts @ The Well Community Church (right across the street from Buchanan High School)

Cost:

$80 - per athlete for the clinics

$100 - per team for the recruiting showcase tournament
